Diploma Course in Hospitality and Tourism Management

The Diploma Course in Hospitality and Tourism Management offers streamlined and profound professional training in a relatively short time. A close relationship with the hospitality and tourism industry guarantees that students receive up-to-date first-hand knowledge and acquire all the relevant skills necessary to take up management positions.

Intensive in-depth instruction is provided by a team of experienced academic lecturers and experts from the industry.

Each class has its partner hotel where students acquire hands-on knowledge and skills.

The emphasis of this course is put on hotel management.

Some facts:

  • Two-year full-time studies, one year being divided into two semesters
  • Minimum age: 18 years
  • Admission requirements: ‘A’ Levels or international equivalent
  • Number of students admitted every year: 36. This guarantees a familiar atmosphere where each student is individually cared for.
  • Language of instruction: German
  • Variety of teaching methods: lectures, group and pair work, project work, role plays and case studies
  • After successfully passing the final exam graduates receive a diploma which grants all the necessary Austrian licenses.
  • Articulation and credit-transfer agreements with European and overseas universities enable graduates to continue their studies towards a Bachelor degree in a relatively short time.

The curriculum comprises:

Hospitality Management, Tourism, Marketing and Tour Operation , IT and Office Management, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting and Controlling, Communication and Presentation, Law, English and one more foreign language (French, Italian or Spanish), practical training in Kitchen and Restaurant Operation

During the school year students gain practical experience in different departments of the school (cafeteria, café, information office, ...), at outdoor caterings, in partner hotels or in the four-star MODUL Hotel, also run by the Vienna Economic Chamber.

A three months’ work placement in Austria or abroad is required between the second and third semesters.
