Interdisciplinary Project: E-twinning

Project Outline: The main goal of the E-twinning project is to get students into contact with students from another country, giving them an authentic reason to use English as a lingua franca and exchanging personal as well as topic-oriented information.

Participants:

• Tourismusschulen MODUL, 1HLC (project coordinator: Mag. Alexandra Konlchner)
• Partner school EL PROVENCIO High School (project coordinator: David Canada)

Aims & Content: The main idea of the project is

• to give students an authentic reason to communicate in English,
• to provide a motivating setting for enhancing their intercultural competence and
• to increase their knowledge of another culture.

In the first stage of the project, the contact between the students was established and first Power Point Presentations about the schools, the home country/city and personal information were exchanged. This happened in collaboration with the Information and Office Management teachers (Föhls, Koberger, Sokol) who helped to design the presentations.

The next steps of the project will include communication via blog and chat and further exchange of topic-oriented information, e.g. about Spanish and Austrian food.

Ideas for future e-twinning activities comprise the arrangement of visits and trips to the partner country. There are also various possibilities to use the contact to the Spanish school within the context of the school subject Spanish.
