International Day 2010

International Day 2010 was a great success! The motto was to break traditional stereotypes illustrated with the headline “Dinner with Mozart in Quito”. In addition to Austria and Ecuador, Hungary, Kenya, Nepal and USA were represented in individual tents with students in original national costumes, artefacts, posters, brochures, and typical food.

Mr. Amadeus Mozart (Thomas Veit) and Ms. Maria Del Mar (Mirjam Thesold) led through the varied program which included chocolate tasting, a children’s story told in Swahili by ICHM 4 student Juliet Ngina Gichanga, a slide show from Mr. Krishna Dhakal, a Nepalese rhinoceros trainer at the Schönbrunn Zoo, Ms. Antonjia Pacek’s (psychology teacher) own piano creations and a MODUL school band playing well-known musical hits from the musical Elisabeth, as well as American songs.

This event was open to the public and amongst the guests were ambassadors from Ecuador and Uruguay, family members and friends.  Proceeds and donations this year go to two charities: Filipino flood victims and a group of Kenyan Maasai. The ICHM 4 Applied Marketing class and Dr. Susanne von Amelunxen were responsible for creating the entire event from theme and decorations to preparing food and setting up the various booths. Everyone pulled together to make this event so successful!
