Projektwoche mit sprachlichem Schwerpunkt der 3HLB in Cambridge, Großbritannien - 17. März bis 24. März 2007
On March 17 all of us met at Schwechat Airport at 4 (!) in the morning to catch a flight to Stansted, from where we took a coach to Windsor. After touring Windsor Castle (and pitying the Queen for having to put up with the noise from the planes starting and landing at Heathrow every 10 minutes), having a look at famous Eton College and enjoying the great weather (little did we know it would be the best we´d see for the rest of the week), we finally arrived in Cambridge where we met our host families for the week.
The next day, we went to London. Adverse weather conditions and annoying route-diversions (caused by a huge St. Patrick´s Day´s parade) notwithstanding, we enjoyed a boat trip on the Thames and a stroll along Oxford Street.
On Monday, we finally started our language classes at Studio Cambridge, which we would be attending every morning for the rest of the week. After school we enjoyed guided tours through Cambridge where we got to see all the colleges of Cambridge University, visited King´s College and King´s Chapel (which is really more like a cathedral than a chapel), and worked on our projects, interviewing locals and collecting information.
Most of us really liked our host families, even though some of us had a hard time getting used to the "lovely" English food and British bathrooms. England really is a great country, once you get used to strict rules like no jumping the queue or no baseball caps in bowling alleys.
